Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun reveals the Xiaomi Mi 9

Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, released the first official photos of the new Mi 9 as well as a “video teaser” for the device to be officially announced on February 20th.

Xiaomi’s top device will be based on Qualcomm’s top chipset Snapdragon 855 coupled with the Snapdragon X24 modem and will be released in at least three versions with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space.

The device will be equipped with a 3500mAh battery with a 27W or 32W fast charging support. The basic camera in the rear-facing “triple camera setup” will be based on a 48 Megapixel sensor and will be assisted by another 12 Megapixels and one with Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor for depth-related effects , for augmented reality applications, and so on. The front camera will offer 24 Megapixel resolution photos with HDR.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 screen is expected to be Super AMOLED with a diagonal of 6.4 inches and a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels (HDR10, DCI-P3). WiFi 802.11b / g / n / ac, dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and NFC will also be supported while the fingerprint sensor will be on the screen.

According to the Xiaomi CEO, the device will have the smallest chin compared to vivo X23, Honor V20 and Oppo R17 with a width of only 3.6 mm, while the other devices have a thickness ranging between 3, 8mm and 4.1mm.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 software will be based on Android 9.0 Pie and MIUI 10. It will be released in Black, Blue, White and Gold. According to information, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will start at CNY3499 (about € 458), while in the “special edition” of the device with “transparent back” will cost CNY5999 in China (about € 785).
